A main thing which
distinguishes a
college packing list for
girls from a college packing list for guys
is fashion and organization. There will be things you need
for
college that
do not apply to
college freshman who are males. As
this topic is so
important to girls, I include some videos in my list of suggestions
herein.
I have broken the overall
college
packing list into 6
groups. There is a

on Closet
Organization that is listed second
here.

what is a good idea to bring? Here’s a list:

What To Bring To
College: Appliances
TV and DVD player
Clearly you will need a
break from time
to time, to rest from all that intense studying. Why not bring the
DVD player with the best features – i.e., check with roommie to
ascertain which dvd player is the one to bring.
Refrigerator
A small refrigerator, or
mini-fridge,
is essential (obviously). Find out the size of your room so you can
plan accordingly. Consult with your future roommate, too.
Microwave
A microwave is a must. For
those late
night study sessions when you’d want to heat up your coffee. I
suggest you check with your roommate to see which of you has the
better microwave.

Comfort Things You Need For College
I would say a pair of
comfortable ear
plugs is essential. It will help to block some of the inevitable
noise when your roommate comes in late from a party, and just noise
in general.
An adjustable reading light
(spare
no expense here). This can really help you during study hours.
Surge protector for
your
computer (if you value your electronics), ipod, cell phone &
charger, etc. Oh, and an extremely comfortable mouse for your
computer.
A bed riser and storage
bins for under
the bed storage. A good comforter, stackable shoe rack or shoe
organizer cabinet, flat shoes and dress shoes, a proper desk (if one
is not supplied already) and desk supplies. A reliable alarm clock -
with a sound you can stand!
2 Pairs of Flip flops (1
specially for
shower use)
Robe
Hangers
Band-aids
First aid kit
PMS medicine
Soap holder/Shower caddy

Comfort Items : What to
Bring to College
Naturally, having mementos
and pleasant
reminders of home will greatly help you to feel comfortable in your
new surroundings. You really don’t want to pack too much – but in
addition to the usual photos from home, you may want to order
something new for yourself – new slippers, an extra plush robe, or
some special makeup. You could do something else as well – order
something online, such as a special coffee you like, to be delivered
upon your arrival.
Tip: Do Not forget to get
your mail
forwarded to you
College
Packing List – Mutual
Items
You might want to check and
see what
your college roommate likes in terms of decor – then the overall
color scheme can match. If you have your roommates phone number,
consult with her once you have found out the size of your shared room
& other details such as closet space, bed details etc.
Area Rug
Check to see if your dorm
is carpeted,
or not. If not, you might want to bring a rug. Best to get a dark
colored rug that you can turn over, in case you or your roommate
accidentally spill wine or something.
Also, bump heads with
roomie as to the
color scheme for your new room (and decor) – this is worthwhile,
since typically the girls with the cutest rooms are the most popular.
Since college life is a
fresh start –
a great chance for independent living you — you should not want to
get bogged down with bringing too many belongings from home. Free
yourself up. Start really enjoying your independence. I know a
wonderful book on the subject, called “Finding Your Own North
Star: Claiming the Life You Were Meant to Live” by Martha
Beck.
This book has a lot of
practical, down
to earth advice – as well as exercises you can utilize to advance
yourself, and discover a lot about yourself. I personally gained
much insight from this particular book. My favorite quote by the
author is, “Spend as much time as possible with people who
support your true self. Spend very little with those who do not.”
This truly resonated with
me, and I
use this tactic today. Good luck in your endeavors; I don’t think
